In late 2009 a successful campaign was launched by Jon Morter and his wife Tracy to promote an alternative to the omnipresent X-Factor winner being the Christmas #1 in the UK singles chart. The track they nominated as the alternative was “Killing In The Name” by Rage Against The Machine. The band supported the campaign, donated the proceeds from the sales to charity and lead singer Zack de la Rocha promised that Rage Against The Machine would perform a free concert in the UK to celebrate the achievement. This went ahead in London’s Finsbury Park on 6th June 2010 and is captured on this film. It is an exuberant performance by the band with the audience cheering them all the way to the inevitable climax of “Killing In The Name”.

    Iggy Pop

    Year: 2016

    Runtime: 2 hr 6 min

Iggy Pop’s show at the Royal Albert Hall on May 13th 2016 has been described as “the performance of a lifetime”. Joined on stage by something of a super-group featuring Homme, Fertita, Helders, Troy Van Leeuwen of Queens Of The Stone Age, and guitar legend Matt Sweeney, Iggy storms through a selection of tracks from Post Pop Depression and his 1977 David Bowie-produced albums The Idiot and Lust For Life. The Royal Albert Hall was packed to capacity and Iggy performed one of the standout shows of his career. The Post Pop Depression backing band supported Pop’s punk antics with a rock ‘n’ roll homage of their own to a true original. An unmissable musical event, which was hailed by The Sunday Telegraph as one of the best gigs the reviewer had ever seen.

“I never heard anyone say that, and yeah, I know exactly what it means. It addresses the on-the-spot elements of blending song and location at the right moment. Both the magical location and remarkable music interaction will get the attention they deserve. Simply because Songbook isn’t just a live music session, it lives. This episode of Songbook features Dutch singer-songwriter Flaws, who is known for his heartfelt alt-pop sound and his self-tought mixing skills, full of contrast and balance. At only two EPs and several singles out, the Utrecht-based Daan Havenith already celebrated successes with two San Holo collaborations, both having gathered millions of streams. Opeth blew the roof off the Enmore in Sydney, playing as amazingly as they always do. After they were all plugged in they began playing one of their hit songs. Effortlessly the members of Opeth themselves were getting lost in the music and drawing you in with them into a tranced atmospheric dimension as lead vocalist and guitarist Mikael Åkerfeldt’s voice carried through the venue.

  • The Video

    Rage Against The Machine

    Year: 1997

    Runtime: 1 hr 24 min

Rage Against the Machine released this self-titled film in 1997, collecting live concert footage and music videos of some of their best material. The band starts with a passionate rendition of Bruce Springsteen's "Ghost of Tom Joad" live from the Irvine Meadows in Irvine, CA. The well-filmed performance captures Rage near the top of their game. Seeing Zack de la Rocha interact with a large crowd and the band work a tight, incendiary groove is required to understand the appeal of the now-defunct political rock band. This is underscored by "People of the Sun" and four other songs live from the Rock Am Ring Festival in Germany, where Rage plays before what must be 100,000 people. The second half of the film is filled with six music videos, including "Freedom" and "Memory of the Dead (Land and Liberty)."
